On March 8 of this year, the new Regulation for the Sanitary Registration of Risk Products A, B, C and the Special Authorization for the Importation of Prepackaged Food and Beverages in El Salvador was published in the Official Gazette, volume No. 434 number 47, which became effective on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette.
This regulation is mandatory for those who commercialize or import pre-packaged food and beverages, which require Sanitary Registration of such products and Certificate of Free Sale for Export or Sanitary, whose classification corresponds to:
- Food Risk Type A: Includes foods that due to their nature, composition, process, handling and target population have a high probability of causing damage to health, according to the Central American Technical Regulations and regulations in force.
- Risk Type B Foods: Includes foods that due to their nature, composition, process, handling and target population have a medium probability of causing damage to health, in accordance with Central American Technical Regulations and current standards.
- Food Risk Type C: Includes foods that due to their nature, composition, process, handling and target population have a low probability of causing damage to health, in accordance with Central American Technical Regulations and current legislation.
