The President of the Republic, Rodrigo Chaves, and the Minister of Health, Joselyn Chacón, signed on Wednesday morning, June 22, a decree so that the Ministry of Health can homologate or recognize the sanitary registrations of medicines, granted by the regulatory authorities that are members of the International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH), which could increase the supply of medicines in the country and eventually reduce the high prices.
The Minister of Health, Josselyn Chacón Madrigal, assured, “The sanitary registrations of medicines approved by the regulatory authorities of the ICH guarantee a level of protection and risk prevention equal or superior to that allowed by Costa Rican institutions and regulations on the matter, which constitutes a strategy to guarantee the access and availability of quality, safe and effective products”.
This decree will become effective six months after its publication in the official newspaper La Gaceta and this recognition must be requested by the interested party before the Ministry of Health through the platform “Regístrelo” it www.registrelo.go.cr.
