According to the instructions given by the President of the Republic of Honduras, within the framework of the National Integral Plan against Extortion, a National Security Emergency has been declared. The National Banking and Insurance Commission considers it appropriate to approve provisions to be observed by the Supervised Institutions to prevent the inappropriate use of financial products and services provided through direct or third-party channels, in the possible commission of the crime of extortion. The purpose is to prevent the inappropriate use of financial products and services provided through direct or third-party channels, taking measures on the use of electronic wallets, domestic and foreign transfers, and opening of bank accounts, among others, in conjunction with the National Registry of Persons to facilitate the consultations made by the institutions supervised by the National Banking and Insurance Commission (CNBS). This Resolution is of immediate execution, as of November 25, 2022.
