The Honduran Council of Private Enterprise communicates the progressive Income Tax rate scale for the 2023 tax period because of the amendment made by Legislative Decree No. 20-2016 of the Income Tax Law.

HONDURAN COUNCIL OF PRIVATE ENTERPRISES

COMMUNIQUÉ

The Honduran Council of Private Enterprise (COHEP), in response to inquiries made by several of our members and in order to encourage voluntary compliance with the material and formal obligations of taxpayers, communicates the following:

First: Legislative Decree No. 20-2016 amended Article 22 of the Income Tax Law, adjusting the progressive scale of payment of such tax made by individuals.

Second: Said amendment establishes that the progressive rate scale will be automatically adjusted on an automatic annual basis as of the year 2017 and will be applied the inter-annual variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), published by the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH) of the immediately preceding year.

Third: The Central Bank of Honduras has officially communicated that the inter-annual inflation to 2022 is 9.80%.

Fourth: Taking into consideration the level of inflation according to data from the BCH, the scale of progressive income tax rates for the fiscal period 2023, is the following:

Fifth: The exemption from payment of ISR extended with the item of L 40,000 destined to the payment of medical services, indicates that employed persons with a monthly revenue equivalent to L. 19,919.96 during the year 2023 will be exempt from payment of ISR. The amount of the exemption increased from L 181,274.56 in 2022 to L 199,039.47 in 2023, with a net increase of L 17,764.64 in 2023.

Sixth: COHEP considers this issue as a priority, besides being a relief to the Honduran working class, allowing the business sector and employers to work coordinated and prepare the salary schedules as of January 2023.
