Guidelines for the Acute Toxicity Studies Approval Submitted for Registration and Renewal of Pesticides for Household Use, Pesticides for Professional Use, Repellent Products for External Use in Humans and Repellent Products for Environmental Use Sanitary Registration.

In Guatemala, on March 17, 2023, the Regulation and Control of Pharmaceutical and Related Products (DRCPFA) Department, issued the guidelines for the Acute Toxicity Studies for the Renewal and Sanitary Registration of Pesticides approval.

It is indicated that the following study reports will be accepted of Acute Toxicity Studies approval:

  1. Conducted in rats, as established by the Toxicological Classification of the World Health Organization.
  2. Conducted in rabbits, considering that the absolute dermal absorption rate is higher in rabbits than in rats.

This information applies to new registrations and renewals of the following products:

  1. Pesticides for Household Use.
  2. Pesticides for Professional Use
  3. Repellent Products for External Use in Humans
  4. Repellent Products for Environmental Use
