Today, in Guatemala City there is a big problem and it is on public roads, parking on public roads. We can notice a many people who work to take care of cars and who take advantage of the lack of support by the Municipality on the issue of being able to park on public roads, due to mistrust issues of leaving their vehicles on public roads without any Municipality protection, that´s the reason why so many people prefer to pay for private parking rather street parking, but this is where the Guatemalan Municipality comes in.
Currently, said Municipality has issued a municipal Agreement, COM-49-2024 to be more precise, which was published on Monday February XNUMX in the Diario de Centro America. This agreement arises from the need to organize and reorganize mobility in the city, but many will think, if there are already parking meters in some parts of the city, that this agreement has been issued again, and that the parking meters that are available in some parts are too old for today.
Therefore, the Municipality's main objective is to cover all those parking lots and implement a new smart parking meters system to benefit drivers from being able to use parking lots on public roads with this advanced technology, which means that this measure will be applied equitably and fairly, promoting equal conditions for citizens.
And when will we start to see the progress or those smart parking meters? The regulations indicate that their validity is from the date of publication, therefore, many people in the city will begin to see and notice this new parking organized by the Guatemalan Municipality, which will contribute to the city look.
Another important factor is citizen collaboration, so the municipality has already carried out the measures and the smart parking meters implementation, but it depends on the citizens to respect and take care these areas of since they are beneficial for all citizens to begin a new era to solve the parking issue in Guatemala in a more efficient and orderly way.
