The Government of the Republic in Honduras has announced the adoption of new measures to prevent and counteract COVID-19 or Coronavirus in the country in view of the fact that the first 2 cases have been confirmed with two Hondurans, one from Switzerland and the other from Spain. .

Health Secretary

With the Secretary of Health, it has been mentioned that an investment of 643 million lempiras will be made for the purchase of medical equipment, supplies, protective suits, mobile hospitals, mobile fans and mechanical respirators that are about to come to the country.

On March 10, the approval of a decree was requested, which has already been sent to the National Congress for its approval, with which it is intended to acquire supplies in the pharmaceutical industry, hand gel and ethyl alcohol.

Migration's national institute

In relation to the migratory measures to be implemented in sea, air and land ports, the director of the National Institute of Migration Carolina Menjivar reported that the entry of citizens from China, Iran, Europe and South Korea is restricted, with the exception of Hondurans.

With the rest of the people who wish to enter the country and who are of a different nationality, they must submit to self-isolation for 14 days and must abide by the measures established by the Secretary of State in the Health office. 

Cruise ships already en route will be allowed to use the ports, however, travelers will not be able to disembark. It was emphasized that these measures will be implemented from today until 14 days, and that the suspension or expansion of the aforementioned measures will be gradually announced. making the determination to declare a restriction on travelers entering the country and coming from countries where there is a greater spread of COVID-19.
