The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, through the Department of Regulation and Control of Pharmaceutical and Related Products, issued on May 10, 2023 the statement UAS-06-2023, in which the Guidelines for Product Labeling are reported. cosmetics

Its objective is to communicate the evaluation criteria for the approval of Labeling in Cosmetic Products, so that they comply with current legislation.

This document mainly contemplates the following points:

A) Products that do not require declaring the expiration date or the period after opening (Period After Opening, PAO), mentioning within these:

  • Single-use cosmetic products.
  • Cosmetic products with low risk of deterioration.
  • Non-perishable personal hygiene products.
  • Cosmetic products that are not opened, in the case of containers where there is no possibility of contact between the product and the external environment.

B) Products that do not require declaring expiration or expiration date:

  • This applies to cosmetic products that have a useful life of more than 30 months and that their composition does not meet the criteria established in subsection A of the statement. In this case, the product must declare the period after opening on the label.

C) Products that contain allergens as part of their composition:

  • They may be included in the labeling of the product that contains them as safety information for the consumer, denominating them within their qualitative formula only as "fragrance".
