On Friday, June 21, the National Congress of Honduras received the initiative to reform the Land Transportation Law of Honduras.

According to the CN website, the project was received by the deputy secretary of the National Congress, Renán Inestroza and delivered by the Minister of the Presidency, Ebal Díaz, who stated that “We delivered a draft decree that guides the reform of the Land Transportation Law of Honduras, also contains the agreements that have been reached with cargo transportation.” Furthermore, he stated that this initiative was worked on together with heavy load carriers.

For his part, Renán Inestroza declared that the initiative will culminate in the Mobile Congress on July 10.

According to the National Congress, the agreements of the initiative are the following:

  • In relation to the new customs codes and increase in transport units, they agree to expedite all related procedures.
  • Goods in Honduras destined for Panama will be moved exclusively by Honduran transport.
  • Support to the transportation sector to carry out a study of the rate charged by logistics companies and intermediaries for the provision of transportation services.
  • The Honduran Institute of Land Transportation (ITHH) is committed to having the existing scales enabled 24 hours a day, every day of the week, on business and non-business days.
  • The IHTT is committed to ensuring that all freight carriers are paid their legally established minimum rates.
